Transgender Day of Remembrance – March & Film Showing
November 19 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
(Note: TDoR is on the 20th, and we are honouring it with our event one day early, on the 19th.)
The Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a trans activist, to memorialize the murder of Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts. Today TDoR is observed in over 200 cities throughout more than 20 countries.
Today, we remember and honour transgender people around the world whose lives have been lost to anti-transgender violence.
We will meet at Pioneer Plaza at The Bastion. (That octagonal fortification at 98 Front St.) We will march across the rainbow crosswalks, down Commercial St., across the highway, and up Victoria Rd. to the Harbour City Theatre for a film showing. 😉 ♥
